ENVIRONMENTALLY CHIC

Reduce. Reuse. Redecorate. What if there was a way to create stylish furnishings or sculptures that save the environment? Green Grove Design introduces a new material, Robal Glass, made of 100% recycled glass in clear soy-based resin designed to help salvage the environment while assisting architects to qualify for LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) points.

Award-winning artist and designer, Scott Grove, and company use Robal Glass as a primary material in the myriad of furnishings and accessories they produce. Grove proclaims, “I’ve made the choice to heal and maintain our environment by using sustainable and recycled substances such as Robal Glass in my new work.”

Through a patented process, glass rescued from landfills is used to create this new material in a wide variety of shapes and colors. Made up of more than 82% recycled content by weight, it can be used for interior and exterior tables, furnishings, mirrors, shower stalls, vanities and more. Some fascinating effects can be fashioned out of using sterilized recycled glass from beer, wine and liquor bottles, even windows and beakers, giving Robal Glass rich combinations of color and application. It holds a smooth and uneven texture and current colors include Cobalt, Amber, Polar, Tundra, Caribbean, Prairie, Ocean, Forest and Jungle. Custom colors can be created and color gradation is available.

The world of furniture design just gained some ecological savoir-faire as Green Grove Design’s launch of this new product, Robal Glass, sends the message that materials matter and great style can come from digging up the past.
